Home Energy Saving Scheme

Back to Available Grant FundingThe Home Energy Saving scheme are government grants administered by Sustainable Energy Ireland. The aim is to provide assistance to homeowners who are interested in improving the energy efficiency of their home in order to reduce energy use and costs, improve the Building Energy Rating (BER) of the home and make it more environmentally friendly.

The scheme is open to all owners of existing houses built before 2006. Fixed grant amounts are given for each of the different areas (shown in the table below) to help towards the costs of implementing these home upgrades. Grants on offer:

Home Energy Saving Scheme

The following upgrades are covered under the scheme - roof insulation, wall insulation, high efficiency boilers and heating control upgrades.

There is also a grant for households who choose to get a Building Energy Rating (BER) assessment before and after the works are completed, however this is not mandatory. You must get approval from SEAI before the works are carried out and you must use a registered installer from their list. You will be paid your grant after the work has been completed and after you have paid the installer.
