A Rate my Home - A step by step guide
This section contains advice and information on how you can improve the Building Energy Rating (BER) of your home.
Where do I begin?
In order to achieve a higher Building Energy Rating (BER) rating you will have to upgrade different features of your home. Some of these upgrades can be retro fitted in existing homes while others are best completed at the time of construction or during a major renovation.
It is important to understand that not every home can achieve an "A" Rating especially as most people have budget contraints so this section will help you to pick and choose which features you can look to upgrade. The ideal scenario is that you achieve the best possible rating for your home using the budget you have available which can be supplemented by Grant support. Your local BER Assessor can carry out a home evaluation for you prior to your certification process and from this they can also offer advice on how to improve your rating. This service will be grant aided through the Home Energy Saving Scheme so please see our grants section for further information. You can use our Supplier directory to locate product and service providers in your area who can offer you detailed and customised advice on Energy Saving and BER improving products.
