Insulation - New Homes
Insulation levels which should be fitted as a minimum to meet the latest building regulations (for homes where planning was applied for after 1st July 2008) are as follows:
U-Values
---
Walls – 0.27
Roof – 0.16
Floor – 0.25
The following table will assist you with the type of insulation recommended and the expected U-Values and Building Energy Rating (BER) achievable by using the different materials. This should be used as a guideline only and specification should be discussed with your builder, insulation specialist and architect. It is advisable that if possible you look to over specify the insulation fitted to delver U-Values above the minimum requirements. This may mean that if the specification of your home falls short in any other areas you could still be able to maintain a strong rating.
